Structural Integrity II

Entering into Silo6 it is easy to feel dwarfed by the sheer scale of the towering structures. With my installation, Structural Integrity II, I wanted to bring the human form back into this space - gritty mark making juxtaposing against the delicate silk, reinforcing the idea of the human body itself as a structure of intricate beauty and complex contradictions.

Structural Integrity II has been made using an experimental version of a more traditional printmaking technique called a monotype. It involves painting onto a smooth non-porous surface and then transferring the image onto silk.
